Your first meeting
Your initial meeting with an Ameriprise financial advisor will be relaxed and informal. While every conversation will be different, the agenda will most likely cover important information for both of you. And yes, it will be a friendly conversation.
First meeting agenda
- Listen. To tailor a financial plan that meets your specific needs, the advisor will need to know what's important to you. He or she will ask about your family, your job, your home and your background.
- Understand. The advisor will ask in-depth questions about your dreams and goals.
- Discuss. The advisor will explain our unique and collaborative Dream > Plan > Track >® approach to creating a financial plan and answer your questions.
- Review. Together, you and the advisor will explore the details of our planning process and find out how a financial plan could help you reach your goals.
- Decide. You and your advisor will determine if you are a good match and look at ways you can work together in an ongoing relationship.
Other talking points might include:
- The investment options, products and services that could fit into your financial plan
- The type of financial service relationship that would best suit your needs
- A discussion of the fee structure
- An agreement on next steps
What comes next?
When you decide to work together, the advisor will schedule a follow-up meeting to gather more detailed information and begin to prepare your financial plan.
